Music and culture come together in the Big Easy for the most anticipated festival of the year. Nowhere else would you find The Who, Jimmy Buffet, John Legend, and Keith Urban all sharing the same stages. Along with the superstars of today, there will be hundreds of local bands showing off their chops. You can expect plenty of jazz from local legends like Dr. John. Trombone Shorty, and Aaron Neville.
There are more than 10 different stages and musical tents that feature unique musical categories. Enjoy the sounds of traditional brass bands, zydeco, gospel choirs, and classic blues just to name a few. You will have no trouble finding something to please your ears. They even have chef demonstrations, kids activities and panel discussions on New Orleans culture. Speaking of food, make sure you come with a hearty appetite. Dozens of local food vendors and restaurants set up shop to share the culinary delights of New Orleans. You won’t find typical carnival fare here. The festival makes sure the focus is on local delicacies you won’t find anywhere else like alligator po’ boys, fried green tomatoes, and beignets.
Whether you go just for one day or plan on going for every show, you are in for a huge musical treat. The 7-day event runs for two whole weekends from Friday April 24 to Sunday the 26th and Thursday April 30 to Sunday May 3rd. Single day tickets start at $58 in advance and go for $70 at the gate.
