Keeping Time: Extraordinary Images from Louisiana's Musical Past

Arts & Theater New Orleans musical legacy is unrivaled by any other city in the world. But it is still rare that you get an opportunity to see this important history right before your eyes. That's what makes the exhibit "Keeping Time: Extraordinary Images From Louisiana's Musical Past" at The Old US Mint so special. With over 50 photographs hand-picked from the archives of the Louisiana State Museum, jazz fans should not miss this one-of-a-kind exhibit.
The beautiful Old US Mint building is now an art gallery and operates as part of the Louisiana State Museum. Located in the historic French Quarter just steps from the old French Market, it's easy to get to the exhibit. The collection of artists covers the full range of genres that have made New Orleans famous over the years. They are all on display from early musical pioneers and jazz icons to the modern superstars like Trombone Shorty that call New Orleans home today. Accomplished photographers such as Michael P. Smith, Sydney Byrd and Rick Olivier all have images in the exhibit.
The Old US Mint is open on Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 am - 4:30 pm. Admission is free of charge, and the exhibit is appropriate for all ages. You still have plenty of time to catch the exhibit, because it runs through the entire year until January 1, 2016.
